Professional RV Modification Explains the Eight Signs of Car Failure
Time: 2024-11-21 Source: Author: Caleb
1. Sudden changes in working conditions
The so-called sudden change in working conditions refers to the phenomenon that the working state of the car is suddenly abnormal, which is a common symptom of failure. For example, it is difficult or even impossible to start the engine after it suddenly turns off; the power of the engine suddenly drops during driving, and the driving is weak; the brakes suddenly fail, deflect or even fail during driving. The symptoms of this kind of failure are obvious, so it is easy to detect.
2. Abnormal noise
The abnormal sound made by the car during driving is an "alarm" for car failure. The driver should be aware that there is a problem with the car and should stop and check immediately. Never let the car "work with illness".
3. Abnormal exhaust smoke
During the operation of the engine, the main components of normal combustion products should be carbon dioxide and a small amount of water vapor. If the engine burns abnormally, the exhaust gas will be mixed with incompletely burned carbon particles, hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide and a large amount of water vapor. In addition, there are nitrogen oxides, etc. At this time, the color of the exhaust gas may become black, blue or white, which means that the color of the exhaust smoke is abnormal. For gasoline engines, there should be no obvious smoke in normal exhaust. However, when the lubricating oil moves up the cylinder, the exhaust gas is blue; when the combustion is incomplete, the exhaust gas is black, and when the oil is mixed with water, the exhaust gas is white.
4. Overheating and high temperature
It usually occurs in assemblies such as the engine, transmission, drive axle, final drive, differential, and brake. For example, if the engine overheats, it is mainly due to problems with the cooling system. Lack of coolant or pump does not work; overheating of the transmission and drive axle is mostly caused by lack of lubricating oil; brake overheating is mainly caused by the failure of the brake shoe to return. The above phenomenon can sometimes be directly reflected by the warning light on the dashboard. The driver should pay attention to observation while driving, and can also test the surface temperature by hand.
5. Leakage
Leakage refers to the leakage of fuel, lubricating oil (or gear oil), brake fluid (or compressed air), and power steering system oil of the automobile engine. This is also an obvious fault phenomenon, which can be found by careful observation. For example, when compressed air leaks, the sound of air leakage can be clearly heard.
6. Excessive fuel and lubrication consumption
Excessive consumption of fuel and lubricating oil indicates that the technical condition of the vehicle has deteriorated and a fault has occurred.
7. Special smell
During the driving process, if the car has brake drag, clutch slip and other faults, it will emit a burning smell of friction plate; when the engine is overheated and the lubricating oil burns through the cylinder, it will emit a special smell; if the circuit is short-circuited or the ground wire is burned, there will be a burning smell.
8. Abnormal appearance of the car
The vehicle should be parked on a flat ground and the appearance should be checked. If there is a lateral or longitudinal tilt, the appearance is abnormal. Most of the reasons are failures of the frame, body, suspension, tires, etc., which will cause unstable direction, deviation, center of gravity transfer, and tires being eaten.
