Maintenance Methods for Vulnerable Auto Parts, Knowledge of Commercial Vehicle Modification

Time: 2024-11-18 Source: Author: Caleb
There are many vulnerable parts on the car. If these vulnerable parts are not checked and maintained regularly, your car may malfunction and cause inconvenience to you. This is the same as the necessity of regular physical examinations. Here are some inspection and maintenance methods for vulnerable parts of cars

Electrical connectors

Except for a few important electrical connectors on the car that use gold contacts, most other connectors are made of copper-zinc alloy. Under normal circumstances, their reliability is guaranteed. However, if the car is running in a high temperature, high humidity, and bumpy environment for a long time, these connectors may become loose, rusty, and have poor contact, and some strange electrical failures are mostly caused by this. Therefore, in daily maintenance, the connectors of the computer, sensor, injector and other components on the vehicle should be checked.

Chassis components

From the perspective of use, chassis components are actually more prone to problems than engines, but many people often ignore the inspection of chassis components in daily maintenance. The parts of the chassis that are prone to failure are mainly concentrated in:

1. Shock absorber: Oil leakage is a precursor to shock absorber damage. In addition, when driving on damaged roads, a significant increase in bumps or a longer braking distance is also a symptom of shock absorber damage.

2. Suspension control arm rubber sleeve: After the rubber sleeve is damaged, the vehicle will have a series of faults such as deviation and swaying, and even four-wheel centering failure. If you carefully check the chassis, it is easy to find the damage of the rubber sleeve.

3. Steering rod: A loose steering rod is a serious safety hazard. Therefore, it is necessary to carefully check this area during daily maintenance. The method is simple: hold the rod and shake it hard. If there is no vibration, it means everything is normal. Otherwise, the ball joint or rod assembly should be replaced.

4. Exhaust pipe: The exhaust pipe is one of the most easily damaged parts under the car, so don't forget to take a look during maintenance. Especially the exhaust pipe with a three-way catalytic converter, it should be carefully checked.

5. Universal joint dust boots: Never underestimate the dust boots on the outside of the universal joint. It not only has a dust-proof effect, but also prevents the loss of grease around the universal joint. Once the dust cover is damaged, the grease will run away quickly. Universal joints are easily damaged due to dry wear.

Tires

Pay attention to replacing tires regularly. Even if a set of tires is durable, it is impossible to use it for a lifetime. Some people have an easy job and use cars relatively infrequently. After a set of tires has been used for a few years, the tread pattern surface is intact, but in reality, the performance of the tire will gradually age and the quality will gradually decline with the increase of service years. If you don't realize this, it is a misunderstanding to think that "the surface looks good" means that the tire is good.

When maintaining tires, first remove impurities such as stones on the tire tread, and check whether the outer tire has defects such as blistering, delamination, cracks, discoloration, aging, etc.; secondly, when disassembling the tire, remove the rust on the rim, check whether the inner tube and liner are damaged or creased, inflate the tire according to the specified pressure, and perform tire flanging or rotation. In addition, check the friction and collision between the tire and the wing, trunk floor, leaf spring, fender, etc.
Battery

The battery is a key component of the electrical system. In a car, a large number of electrical devices are used, and the abnormal operation of the battery will affect the performance of many devices. For example, in a car with an automatic transmission, if the battery does not work properly, it will prevent the car from starting. Therefore, a stable power supply must always be available.

When checking the battery fluid level, if the fluid level is between the upper and lower lines, it is normal. At the same time, the fluid level difference of each tank should also be checked. If the fluid level is insufficient, you can unscrew the battery cover and pour distilled water to replenish the fluid level.

Check the battery terminals and use an iron brush to brush off the dirt on the terminals. If the wire clamp has serious stains, you can use sandpaper to wipe along the inner wall to remove the stains.
