Usually, the service life of a spark plug is 15,000 kilometers, while the service life of a long-lasting spark plug does not exceed 30,000 kilometers. However, many owners of spark plugs often have such problems and cannot reach their normal service life.
In fact, the operating temperature of the spark plug is quite high. When the engine is running normally, the temperature of the spark plug insulator skirt is generally maintained between 500 and 600℃. Too high or too low temperature has an adverse effect on the spark plug. When the spark plug temperature is too low, the insulator on the spark plug is prone to carbon accumulation, which eventually leads to leakage and misfire. The spark plug operating temperature is too high, which is easy to cause premature combustion and engine knock. In the Chery Automobile Training Camp, the clerk divided the common faults of the spark plug into two categories. One is that the spark plug is severely ablated, and the other is that the spark plug has deposits.
Spark plug ablation

When the owner finds that the top of the spark plug is scarred or damaged, and the electrode is melted and ablated, these all indicate that the spark plug is damaged. At this time, the spark plug should be replaced. During the replacement process, the owner can check the symptoms of spark plug ablation and the color change.
Symptom 1: Electrode melted, insulator white
Diagnosis: This phenomenon indicates that the combustion chamber temperature is too high. This may be due to excessive carbon deposits in the combustion chamber, resulting in too small valve clearance, which in turn leads to exhaust valve overheating or poor cooling device. When the spark plug is not tightened to the specified torque, the electrode melts and the insulator is white.
Symptom 2: Ring electrode and scarred insulator
Diagnosis: Prompt that the engine is prematurely burned due to early ignition timing or low gasoline octane number and high heat generation of the spark plug.
Symptom 3: Broken top of insulator
Diagnosis: Generally speaking, knock combustion is the main cause of insulator breakage. Early ignition timing, low gasoline octane number, and high combustion chamber temperature may cause engine knock combustion.
Symptom 4: There are gray-black stripes on the top of the insulator
Diagnosis: The appearance of this stripe indicates that the spark plug has leaked, and the owner needs to replace the new part unconditionally.
There are deposits on the spark plug.
The deposits sometimes adhere to the top of the spark plug insulator and the electrode. Car owners should not underestimate this deposit.
In severe cases, this may cause the engine to not work properly. After cleaning the spark plug, the vehicle can run normally temporarily, but similar situations will soon appear. In fact, the deposits on the spark plug are only a surface phenomenon, which may be a signal that there is a problem with other mechanical parts of the car.
Symptom 1: There is oil stain on the spark plug
Diagnosis: The appearance of oil stains on the spark plug indicates that the lubricating oil enters the combustion chamber. If only a few spark plugs have oil stains, it may be caused by damage to the valve stem seal. But if the spark plugs of each cylinder are stuck to this deposit, the cylinder will have oil jumping. Generally speaking, when the filter and the ventilator are blocked, the cylinder is prone to oil jumping.
Symptom 2: There are black deposits on the spark plug
Diagnosis: The black deposits on the spark plug electrode and inside usually indicate that the concentration of mixed gas in the cylinder is too high. Car owners can increase the engine speed for a few minutes to burn off the black soot layer left on the electrodes.
